Galaxy IT Services offers knowledge and expertise to set up your computer system network, whether wireless, cable or fibre optic networks.

Wireless networking technology (WLAN) is being used as an alternative to cable and fibre optic networks. The aim of wireless technology is to remove the restrictions of being attached to expensive and messy wires and cables, both inside the office and out. Wireless technology carries the capability of wired networks to areas that cables cannot reach.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know..WLANs can broadly do anything that a "wired" LAN can do, without the encumbrance of cables between the user device and the network. This enables workers to share a network and hardware. It also allows workers to remain online if they move their laptop or personal digital assistant (PDA) around the wireless-enabled space, known as "hot desking", which can allow for a more flexible use of space.

WLANs can extend network access to areas where cabling might not be cost-effective or practical, for example from an office to its adjacent warehouse or storeroom, or across retail outlets, hotels, or public spaces such as health centres and job centres.

WLAN "hotspots" are wireless-enabled areas offering customers access to a broadband internet connection, usually for a usage fee. Such services are becoming common in public areas such as airports, stations, cafes and hotels, so that workers can be in regular communication with their business while traveling.

WLANs are particularly suited to businesses that have staff working away from the office, eg sales staff, where flexible working styles such as "home working" have been implemented, or where the use of wireless is desirable to avoid damage to the fabric of a building.

Of course, in some instance a wireless network may not be appropriate if speed and security are of the utmost importance than a traditional wired network may be the better choice. Most businesses, in fact, use a combination of both types of networking.

Make your network work for you, not the other way around. Your Galaxy IT Services Team can design the network you need, whether your staff is large or small, in-house or mobile. From traditional LANs to the latest wireless LAN technology solutions, Galaxy IT Services Technicians install your network, test it, and teach you what you need to know to utilize it effectively.
